Currently if you have a Job with one task (like a sim that might take hours) the Task Progress is shown as 0% in the job list (which of course it should be, 0/1 tasks complete). It would be good if the progress of that task, as shown in the Task panel, could be shown in the Job panel.
This is on the wishlist for 6.1. A little info about why it currently doesn’t work this way can be found here:

Great, Thanks!
We’re running Deadline 6.0.0.51561 and we’re encountering, what sounds like, the same issue. Rendering single frames from Max, using Vray, we don’t get a per task progress update…tasks are either 0% or 100%, so they’re basically done or not-done. This can be a little unnerving when you’re submitting a large render to the farm that’s going to go overnight, and you aren’t able to get any sort of indicator that it’s actually working. If you submit a sequence to the farm, each task updates on the fly, so I’m confused as to why the same functionality doesn’t work for 1 frame, when it does for 100…or 1000…
Should we update to 6.1, will that resolve this issue? This worked fine in Deadline 5, so I’d be interested in what changed in how the slaves report the per-task progress of single frames that crippled this mechanism.
Thanks!

Hi Brandon,
Can you post an example scene here that reproduces the problem? We can test it here with 6.1 to see if we get progress or not.
Thanks!

I can’t post the exact scene I’m working on, as it’s a production file…but I’ll see what I’ll try to come up with something that shows what I’m referring to.
Update: it looks like the progress IS being updated…but in very large chunks, like 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% rather than on a more granular scale. For instance, in the slave window, the Plugin Status is 3.9% but the Progress is 0%…so, 0% is being reported to monitor. Seems odd. And this is occurring with sequences as well…just not on as macro a scale…we see percentages at 65% and 80% currently on sequence tasks…so, it’s at least updating every 5 percent…but still not seeing anything as granular as we did in D5, where we’d get 3.9 or 38.2 or whatever.blah.
Submitted a ticket with this and a few other items I was having a hard time with: #793832. Ryan, maybe you can check it out?
