Hi,
Occasionally we get frames that deadline says were correctly rendered, but the file save operation was timed out. Looks like we’re hammering our file server quite bad Does anybody have an idea where in Max or Deadline we can increase these timeouts? Looks like it’s not done at the OS level.
Thanks!
No timeouts for this are currently exposed. Do you have Local Rendering enabled under the “Options Tab”?

Lightning will create files with a “*_tmp” if it fails to copy them back to your file server (I can’t remember but it’s like x5 or x10 attempts it tries to make here for you). Are you seeing this? Using Local Rendering should almost make this disappear. Do you get any part of these files saved back to your file server? ie: 0Kb files or partial save files?
Hi,
We do have local rendering checked. I think we don’t have zero size files - they are just missing.
Hmmm…I don’t remember ever seeing this before then. Are you able to confirm from your file server’s perspective, that the ‘missed’ frames that failed to be saved back to the file server happened at a time when your file server was heavily congested? Can we see a couple of your 3dsMax log reports to see if anything else sticks out as a factor here?
We ran some statistics gathering, but we are too busy now to seriously sit down and analyse it.
Furthermore, there’s one more possible explanation for these faults - there was a power failure which did cause some damage to some files, these might be connected.
I’ll write again when we have more interesting info.
Thanks!
