“Find Render Candidates” Shows “The limit was not found” Instead of Max Limit Message

Deadline Version: 10.4.10
Description:
When clicking “Find Render Candidates” on an Arnold render job, we consistently see the message:
“The limit was not found.”

In previous versions of Deadline, this would instead return a more informative message, such as indicating that a limit has been reached (e.g. max number of allowed render nodes). This was helpful in understanding why a job was not being picked up.

Issue:
The new message lacks clarity and makes it more difficult to diagnose job scheduling problems. Even when a job is clearly hitting the maximum limit, we no longer receive a corresponding message.

Question:
Is there a setting or configuration that can restore the previous behaviour, where Deadline reports that the limit has been reached instead of saying the limit wasn’t found?

Thanks,

are you using RCS? I think there’s a bug when applying limits via 10.4 & RCS, probably worth opening a ticket with Thinkbox to confirm that applies to your issue though.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, we are using RCS, but only in a limited capacity — mainly to monitor renders from Macs that aren’t connected to the main storage. Beyond that, it’s not heavily used in our setup.

When you say there’s a bug with 10.4 and RCS when applying limits — do you mean just having RCS enabled causes issues, or is the bug specific to setting limits through RCS?

Happy to open a ticket with Thinkbox if that sounds like it could be related.
