FR - Pulse Slave Scripts : menu system

Hi,
Would be useful to have the ability to create Pulse scripts which are available as a RC menu “scripts” on a Pulse server in the monitor UI. (same “scripts” menu idea as slaves & jobs).
I can use “remote” exec command for now, but a “scripts” menu would be useful for writing custom stuff, such as executing IPMI commands which need to go via Pulse and not any other machine.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike,

We can definitely do this. Our plan for 6 was to have scripts for pretty much all the lists in the Monitor. There’s a good chance we could have this done for beta 4, but if not, it should be by beta 5.

Cheers,

  • Ryan

Would it be easy to back port it to v4 as well?

Highly unlikely. The 5.2 maintenance releases we’ve been making available on this beta board will more than likely result in the last public release of v5, and we’re strictly focusing on bug fixes or minor plugin updates so that anything we do for 5.2 can be ported into 6.0 with little hassle. The plan is to release the 5.2 maintenance release in November, so things like API changes will have to wait for version 6.

It doesn’t help in this case that the backend code is completely different in 5 and 6, so anything we wrote for 5 here would have to get rewritten in 6.

D’oh. Total keyboard fail. I meant v5.2! However, I believe your comment remains the same!
