Frame Buffer Different From Saved Image

Hey Krakatoa-Community,
lately I noticed, that the image in the 3ds Max Frame Buffer (rendered with Krakatoa) looks a lot different than the actual file (saved as a png). I don’t really know if this is the right question for this forum (maybe the Autodesk-Forum is a better place to ask in this case), but I thought I’d give it a try since I don’t know if this is an issue with Krakatoa or with Max. I attached two images, the one with the much more particles are in the Frame Buffer.

Thank you really much for your help!
Matthias

Maybe the problem is color depth management in post.

Do you know. How I can fix it? In post I can higher the alpha-curve and it looks almost as in the Frame-Buffer, but it would be nice to get the same picture as saved File.

in these day and in a random situations (still I don’t understand when!) I have the same “error”. I use AE for compositing and the fastest but not better way to avoid this, is to save as jpeg. I think that the problem is the premultiplication with alfa, indeed if you ignore premultiplication (in footage interpretation) you’ll have the same max render! Maybe someone else can give you more and right info abut this topic.

Saving as EXR’s worked the best for me along with working in 32 bit float in AE, and also setting up AE for Linear workflow.

This is possible. All my last animations were rendered as an exr-file.
Thank you!

Matthais
