Frequent hung during the verification 3ds max errors

Hi All

I frequently get this error when rendering 3ds Max jobs:

If I run 3dsmaxcmd.exe on a slave node, I see all the cmd help flash by, followed by this error:

Which seems innocent enough.

Any ideas how I can fix this? It doesn’t generally waste too much time, but it brings the error count up and causes false alarms here and there.

Thanks

For now I’ve disabled the sanity check in the plugin options to see if that helps. Could this have any consequences?

Hi Dave,
Could you post the full log report for this machine in trouble. The full log will tell us more information with regard if Backburner is correctly installed and visible in the machine’s PATH and whether it’s a Backburner issue, version mismatch, 3dsMax faulty install or something else.
Thanks,
Mike

Is this enough of the log?

Hi Dave,
Perfect, thanks!

So, you need to upgrade Backburner if your going to be rendering in 3dsMax 2014:

Your Backburner YEAR version should always match your 3dsMax YEAR version.

Great support as always! thanks…

Hmmm, so I seem to still get this error even with the same year number of Max and backburner

Any ideas why this might happen?

Hi Dave,
Can you open a DOS prompt and try entering and executing the line below?

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2014\3dsmaxcmd.exe"

The black-box you previously mentioned should appear and hopefully give us more information to go on here. Are you running IPv6 as well as IPv4 on your network/Windows? Backburner has known issues with this and I don’t think they have ever been fully resolved by Autodesk. Typically, as per our 3dsmax FAQ’s, we have found that this can sometimes be an indication that the 3dsmax install has an issue and a re-install is potentially the only option, after a clean uninstall has taken place. (Removing any Backburner components as well along the way).

Let’s see what the error message says first when you execute that line above and we can take it from there.

Mike
