FROST and Thinking Particles

Hallo,
I’m just wondering if there will be possibility to choose a TP group and not the whole TP system ??
but maybe I’m just missing something…

cheers,
Bandu

Don’t think you are missing anything.
I would have expected the Renderable property of the Group to affect the meshing (the way Krakatoa does it), but it seems to be ignored.
Thus, your current workaround would be to bake the TP to PRT using the Groups Rendering flags and then mesh a PRT Loader.

I think a rollout for adding TP groups to mesh should be added to TP just like there is one for PFlow.

I feel terrible for not testing this earlier, we are deep into a TP project at Prime Focus right now and I should have tried it…

Sorry, for now you will need to bake the particles using Krakatoa as Bobo described. However, I would like to add better support for thinkingParticles.

Alternatively, you can set the Scale of particles from Groups you don’t want meshed to 0.0
FROST will effectively ignore them when building Metaball meshes, although it might still assign zero-scaled geometry when using Geometry meshing.

That’s right, setting the Scale to 0 will work for all modes except “Geometry” and “Vertex Cloud”. “Geometry” will produce zero-scaled shapes, and it will not affect Vertex Cloud meshing.

Thank You very much, it is not so important as it sounds, I’m just testing FROST and there is no project I need FROST with TP right now.
But sure, using KRAKATOA and PRTs would solve this groups problem, was my first thought anyway…
Well, FROST is an kick ass masher and very fast ! THANK YOU

Cheers,
Bandu
