would be a nice feature to have a checkbox inside frost panel to put colors from PRT automatically in a mapping channel without creating KCM
The Color channel of PRT goes automatically into the Vertex Color channel of Frost. Just check Vertex Color shading in the Object Properties and/or add a Vertex Color Map in the Material assigned to Frost and the data will be there. If you want the Color to go to ANOTHER mapping channel than 0, then you need to use KCM.
ah ok nice thanks, great in viewport color as well
for some reason, getting frost vertex color doesnt seem so starightfoward to me
whenever i check it in object properties and turn on material color, i always see the correct colors, the ones i make with KCM by velocity for exmaple
but in the vray shader with vertex color in diffuse
it just shows up black (alpha is there)
any tips or tricks?
ive had this happen alot of times and never did i know whats causing it
I have never seen this, a Vertex Color Map in any material slot is supposed to show exactly what is in the specified Mapping or Vertex Color channel.
If you see it in the viewport, you should see it in the renderer.
On top of that, the viewport does not clamp values > 1.0 but wraps around and can produce incorrect results if the components are out of the 0-1 range, while the Vertex Color Map does not have an issue with that.
But of course I am not a VRay specialist and there could be something you are doing that I am not doing…
i will investigate further and see what the problem is
