Frost particle Color

I’m trying to generate particles with Frost via a mesh, but I want the particles to have a solid color from the mesh, the one that is where there stand.

Here is what I don’t want :

Is it possible ? Any idea ?
Thanks

Of course. What you need is a single UVW value per particle that propagates to the whole particle.
The simplest approach is to use a Mapping channel > 1.

Here is an example:

*Create a Plane
*Assign a Material with a Gradient Ramp in the Diffuse slot
*Create a Frost out of the Plane, use the same material
*Set to Geometry mode, pick Box as the shape type
RESULT: You get what you DON’T want - each Box will have its own UVs in channel 1.

*Select the Plane, add a Planar UVW Mapping modifier, set to Map Channel 2.
*Change the Map Channel in the Gradient Ramp to 2
RESULT: Each FROST particle will acquire the mapping channel of the corresponding vertex and shade the WHOLE box shape with the same color.

If you have existing mapping in Channel 1, you could copy it into Channel 2 using the Channel info tools, or via an UVW Unwrap Save/Load.

Thank you again Bobo !
