Frost Update when Hidden

ive got a scene with 5 frost meshes, and have hidden them,

i created manual frost proxies to do camera, and even though this is much faster with the proxies, it still says it is trying to update frost objects
it calculates this really fast, i guess it knows its hidden, but still thinks it needs to be updated?

nonetheless i guess its not the same as turning viewport calculation off, maybe it would make sense when hidden that this happens automatically?
