Hi!
a job is coming up and I was wondering, if Stoke could read the FumeFX Color Channel to transfer to the Stoke Particles?
Is this already possible, if not would it be hard to integrate? Would be really nice and very helpful.
cheers!

I asked yesterday, and that is supposed to be done for Krakatoa MX 2.x first. Once we figure it out there, we might be able to put it back into Stoke 2. At least that’s the plan.
Okay, so I’ve now got the Stoke Field Loader reading the colors correctly from my Fume sim, but how do I transfer this color information onto my Stoke particles?
If you need the color to be locked at birth (acquire from emitter), you would need to emit from a PRT FumeFX object. I would assume the Color channel would be acquired and would stick to the particle for the duration of its life.
If you want to copy the color over, you would need to sample the Field using a Magma. Unfortunately, the Krakatoa MX Magma does not have a direct InputField node yet, but you can do one of two things:
*Add a Magma to the Stoke Particles simulator and sample a PRT FumeFX object for the Color channel.
or
*Create a Stoke Field Loader
*Create a Stoke PRT Field from it and set the spacing to the same spacing as the FumeFX
*Sample the Color from those particles using the same Magma approach (NearestParticle would probably do it)
I believe the first approach would be easier, but I haven’t tried either one.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong because I’m not able to read any color channel from the PRT FumeFX object?
Here’s my sample scene http://we.tl/rHiMmpZiGD - Max 2014 / FumeFX 3.5.4
Sorry, getting back a month later.
I am seeing color in both the PRT Fume and Stoke with FumeFX 3.5.3, Krakatoa 2.3.0.54180, and max2014.
Let me grab the official builds and I will try FumeFX 3.5.4
3.5.4 works for me too.
