FumeFX Vorticity Channel?

Just curious, when you grab the data streams from FumeFX does FumeFX output the vorticity in a voxel? If so, what type does it generate?

I saw some really interesting stuff with realflow and the vorticity channel.

There isn’t a data channel that explicitly stores the vorticity in FumeFX, but it is relatively straightforward to compute it as the curl of the velocity field. Straightforward in this case means for me, not for you

I assume you are saying that this would be an internal caclulation?

If so, would it be worthwhile? ie a low priority maybe someday feature.

Ain’t that the truth

Yeah, I’ll add it to the list of FumeFX things to-do.

What are people generally doing with this channel outside of the simulation? Noise position? Coloring?

According to the notes, this video uses “Color By Vorticity” to create the foam (using RealFlow):

Thanks Darcy

Use it for color, density, emission…

I really like the initial look before it begins to settle in that shot, the ever lasting battle of a good looking foam/air type interaction with fluid is getting better…even if it is a cheat:)
