Fusion: Check saver output?

Using Fusion 5.21 with ConsoleSlave and getting some bad renders.

I’m using the “check saver output” option, but I’m getting tasks where the output files are not written (the don’t show up on disk, even though the task completes) and I’m also getting some all-black frames.

What does the “check saver output” check for? Is it just the presence of the file, or does it do the “black frame check” too?

Hey Chad,

If you're using ConsoleSlave, the "Check Saver Output" option does nothing. If you're using RenderSlave, a script goes through all the savers and ensures that each produced the output that was expected.

When rendering with ConsoleSlave, everything is controlled internally by Fusion. When rendering with RenderSlave, we run eyeonScripts to give us more control over the render, and this includes checking the saver output.

We should probably document this better. :)

Is ConsoleSlave still the preferred way of rendering? Or should we switch back to RenderSlave?

It’s recommended by Eyeon to use ConsoleSlave, but we still prefer to

use RenderSlave here at Frantic. I would say switch to RenderSlave, and

see if you run into the same problems that you currently are with

ConsoleSlave.
