Generating Quicktime settings on Mac OS

Hi,

we’re having trouble generating Quicktime settings on Mac OS through the ‘Create Settings’ dialogue of the Quicktime Submitter.

  1. The ‘Movie Settings’ window of Quicktime opens behind all the Deadline Monitor windows and is thus not accessible. The workaround so far is to move all Deadline windows so the center of the screen is empty and the controls become accessible. This must happen before clicking ‘Create Settings’ as it’s not possible to move any of those windows after clicking the ‘Create Settings’ button.
  2. When going the workaround route it’s possible to click ‘Settings…’, choose the desired codec and its options and click ‘OK’.
When trying to select the options under ‘Size…’ it’s impossible to click anything in the following dialog window - including ‘OK’ and ‘Cancel’ and also the Monitor windows are completely inaccessible. Only a reboot fixes this. When not trying to adjust any of the settings under ‘Size…’ it’s no problem completing the process and save a settings file.
  3. When asking for the settings file’s location it suggests .xml as extension. But the resulting file looks nothing like an xml file. Not sure if this a bug.
  4. To be able to get to those settings and put them into a settings file we tried a workflow using AppleScript suggested here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5901692/applescript-quicktime-pro-save-export-settings
When using that settings file (attached) the Quicktime job resulted in this error:

Ideally we will never need that AppleScript workflow to generate a settings file, of course, if we could just access the Quicktime settings from Deadline’s Quicktime submission dialogue.

This is with:
Mac OS 10.7.3
QT 7.7.1 (2315)
QT Player 7.6.6 (1709)
Deadline 7.2.0.10
