As you might have read already elsewhere, we made the decision to roll Genome’s functionality into Stoke MX 2.0. Genome gets a new InputField node that will let you integrate your modifiers with FumeFX data, SpaceWarp fields, external fields coming from OpenVDB and Field3D sources and more, plus all the additions we had planned for v1.1. anyway.
What does this mean to those of you who purchased Genome in the last two years since its release?
You get a Genome update, and you get Stoke thrown in, for free, even if your support and maintenance contract has expired.
If you already have Stoke 1.0 and have not purchased Genome despite being on the Beta, you will get both Stoke 2.0 and Genome, for free.
If you purchased both, you will technically double your license counts of both Stoke and Genome (this case is rather the exception, we checked! )
If you have not purchased Genome or Stoke, you can buy Stoke 1.0 now for $495 which includes one workstation and two network simulation licenses, and you will get Stoke 2.0 plus Genome when they are released. The price is subject to change after that, so this is a fair warning…
We have moved everybody on this Beta group to the Stoke Beta group. If you want to test Stoke + Genome, you can download the latest build from

and request a Beta license for Stoke 2.0 from sales@thinkboxsoftware.com

Why should you care for Stoke 2?
It is a large central piece of the Thinkbox puzzle. I hope the following image comparing Stoke 1.0 to 2.0 within the 3dsMax infrastructure makes it clearer:
