Geometry caching options

Hi,

spotted today that Supermesher doesn’t seem to have been recompiled for 2012, and I wondered what options there are to cache animations which use multiple objects that can then be piped into Frost as a single object to be used as a particle geometry type.

Are there any plans to do this entirely within Frost?

Thanks,

Steve

We will have an announcement on this topic soon.

Cool, thanks Paul!

As far as SuperMesher goes I spoke with Matt before Siggraph, he said he was working on it. I haven’t heard back from him since.

SO that said, I suspect that he is busy with some “Advantage Pack” business that is if MAX2AE is the connection to AE or he hit a major snag.

I’ve e-mailed him - it’s a bit disappointing that we’re six months into a release and don’t have a 2012 version… is the Advantage Pack Max2AE or something else?

(Not that I’ve installed it because of reported problems with BB)

Honestly, I do not know, I just started building 2012, simply because VP performance is horrid with any kind of changing topo. I have only dabbled in 2012 until now.

I am only guessing Max2AE is the connection, mainly because it is the only one I know of and secondly AME added SoundTrax to max (another boomer plugin) a few versions ago.

I can say since I just installed the Advantage Pack my PhysX World in Box#2 is crashing to desktop. It was working last month or so when I tried it last. Rough :open_mouth: I am removing it and reinstalling 2012 as we speak to see if I can get Box#2 back. Incidentally my BB isn’t working either.

Hmmm. Not installed Box 2 yet on 2012… Only just used it on one job so far.

We are in beta if you have an imminent need

Hi Chris,

it was more a case of working around it for a particular job, but I’d love to test it out if it’s useful for you.

Thanks,

Steve
