playing around with the cloud wizard and want to install additional stuff on the prebuilt slave instance (cw-slave-maya-….) but didn’t know the root password 
any suggestions?

Just to close this out, Bhavek has replied to Jörn directly. The short answer is that it’s necessary to generate an SSH key and add it to an instance’s metadata. Then it can be accessed via SSH. I’ll make a note to add this to the docs.
