I have started to try to work my way through the cloud wizard and I am having issues.
first, let me say I have no idea what i am doing with any of this, i am doing my best to follow the instructions.
When I encountered this screen i had no idea what to do so i just guessed until it worked…
I then immediately encountered the issue seen in these screens.
I am nearly 100 percent sure that I am doing something stupid. I am not an expert IT guy, perhaps this is perfect to beta test this, if it can be screwed up I am sure i will screw it up.

I suggest re-creating the Client ID. This time choose “Installed application” for the application type. Once you have done that, you should download the Client Secret JSON file for native application. You should also verify that you have the Google Compute Engine API enabled for the account.

here are a couple more questions.
will i be able to render max and vray jobs with the google cloud setup? I got to a point where i saw blender and maya, but no max or vray. Perhaps i am ahead of myself here. But if this is the case then I may as well stop as we dont use maya or blender.
also there are some UI issues as seen in the 2nd image, this seems to occur throughout the configuration process.

I see some contrast/readability issues in the UI screenshots, but what other issues are you having with the UI?
Also, it looks like you’re using an invalid subnet. You’re using 172.20.0.0 instead of 172.16.0.0. We should do more checking of that in the input stage. So for now I suggest running the Reset Tool and then starting again with a valid private-block subnet address.
With regard to Max / VRay: The Cloud Wizard installs some “demo” style jobs for Blender and Maya so that users can experiment with how the Balancer automatically launches and terminates VMs. You can manually configure additional VM images that have whatever software you need and then register them in the Group Mappings (in Configure Cloud Providers).

here is what my IT team replied with.
This is not an invalid range, and it is not okay to use what the vendor is providing. Can you please have the vendor contact me so I can get a better understanding on why cannot use this subnet. We currently are using the 172.20.0.0/16 subnet to designate all of our VPN connections.
would there be a time that he could call you to discuss?
or could you provide additional information here?

I believe this is a Google Cloud Platform limitation, not a Cloud Wizard limitation. Let me verify that and get back to you.
Just to close this out, for anyone that may be curious, we identified the Cloud Wizard was not clearing unnecessary white space from various input fields. This would cause some unexpected errors, for example, if the subnet field had trailing white space. This will be fixed in future builds.
