GPU Rendering.

Please move this to offtopic forum or any relevant forum if neccessary.

Greetings from snowy plains of Mother Russia where people are strong and drinks are even stronger!
Let me apologize in advance for 3rd grade english level as i learned the language playing Dune 2.

For a while now i managing a decent farm of 80 nodes running Deadline for 3dsmax rendering purposes. Im doing quite well, but there are still some spice to harvest. Ive encountered a problem where just increasing RAM, CPU frequency and number of CPUs just not enough to really improve rendering speed.

So, I decided to do a barrel roll and try GPU rendering.
My fellow 3d-trained bears investigated the issue and stated that GPUs are really good for small scale rendering like single cars, houses and such due to lack of RAM onboard.
But i need to render large scaled projects consisting of thousands of objects. And often in godly 1920*1080 resolution. I can`t even start to think about 2k or 4k res, as even our Eternal Emperor could die of old age while waiting for completion.

So i requesting community experiense also with Thinkbox developers advice - where to look in hardware and software search?

Right now i`m willing to try Deadline+Vray RT 3.0+Nvidia Tesla configuration, but maybe somebody have better suggestions?

From the glacial tundra of the Great White North in Canada, we welcome you!

While we polar bears of support at Thinkbox do not have any suggestions on this, I am hopeful one of our other customers might have some thoughts on this topic.

Cheers!

Yeah, nice introduction! That`s why i love Thinkbox. -)

While waiting for some responces from other members of community, I declare this thread as testing-shmesting flight journal of my GPU rendering breakthrough.

Now testing:

Deadline + VRay 3.0 RT + 3dsMax 2014 + GeForce something-something gaming from the top of the list.

Oh, my…

It was a tough month and half.
That funny exchange rate caught us without pants.

Now that Tesla thingy cost insane amounts of oils! I`m not even trying to estimate any decent rendering solution.
I will return to this matter as soon as cruel world will need our oils again. We have lot of pretty girls, but that kind of business was kinda poorly accepted recently.
