So i have a very strange error with a max job…
On render elements, when the frames are set to be individual tasks, all frames render fine. But when they are grouped into chunks of 15, only the first frame looks good, the rest are all black. The regular beauty out is fine for even the inbetween frames…but the renderelements, they are all black.
Very confusing.

Is the option to restart the renderer between frames enabled for the job? This option is in SMTD under the render tab. If it’s your own custom submission script, you’ll want this in your plugin info file:
RestartRendererMode=trueThis has been known to help weird issues like this. Note that this doesn’t restart Max. It just flushes the previous instance of the renderer (mental ray, vray, etc) and creates a new one between frames, so the impact on render time is negligible.

Bobo mentioned this to me on saturday as well, ill make sure its turned on! Its a custom submitter, but using the SMTD settings / functions, so maybe the default is not on.
Ill test it and report back!
