Hi there,
Where do you set the variable for HideDosWindow for Fusion submissions? Though I don’t think it’s specific to only Fusion submissions. I cannot for the life of me find a place to set the variable. Currently it’s false and I would like it set to true, so that the ConsoleSlave DOS window that keeps popping up every time a new render job is given to the slave, sods off!
Thanks in advance,
Kyle
Hi Kyle,
I don’t know what it is about the ConsoleSlave application, but for
whatever reason, setting HideDosWindow to True doesn’t stop the dos
window from being displayed. What you can do is use RenderSlave.exe
instead of ConsoleSlave.exe for rendering (which you can specify in the
Fusion5 plugin configuration in the Monitor). When using
RenderSlave.exe, no dos window pops up, and we’ve been using it here at
Frantic in production without any issues.
Cheers,

Hey Ryan,
Thanks for the advice.
Unfortunately, we use ConsoleSlave.exe instead of RenderSlave.exe because it
gives more frame progress output which helps tracking the jobs better. We
changed over a few months back and found that the output from ConsoleSlave
was more indicative of progress through the frames. Before it would only
show when then entire batch was complete, never showing progress through
each frame in the batch.
Unless this has changed, or I’m wrong about that, we have to keep with
ConsoleSlave. Real bummer about the DOS window thing though.

Hey Kyle,
Unfortunately, the progress issue you mentioned hasn’t changed. If we do
happen to stumble across a solution to the ConsoleSlave dos window
issue, we’ll let you know.
Cheers,
- Ryan
