Last Friday I (accidentally) uninstalled the database and I had to rebuild our Deadline environment. One of the things that I used frequently was setting a hotkey for the ConnectWithRemoteDesktop script. It allowed me to quickly get into a slave machine. Originally it would always give me a popup window. But there was a check box to hide that. But after I rebuilt the environment settings it seems this functionality stopped working. Now it always gives me the pop up and the checkbox only hides itself when you right-click to run the script. Also, when I do use the hotkey it always shows the last machine I accessed. Not the one that I currently have selected.
So I originally set this up with the release of 6.1. It remained the same through the beta builds. I’m currently on 6.2.0.18
Hey James,
It sounds like you set up the hotkey for the RDC script in the General menu, instead of one of the other menus (like the slave’s menu). Can you check if that’s the case?
Cheers,
Ryan
When I set it in one, it sets it in the other menus. So if I set it in the Slaves Scripts menu and then go look at the General Scripts menu, the same hotkey will be set.
Strange… this isn’t the intended behavior, and I can’t reproduce this here. I set up the shortcut key for the RDC script in the Slaves menu only, and when I check the different menus, the slave one is the only one that shows the shortcut.
I Figured it out. I did originally set it in the General Scripts menu. I think I got confused because I was racing to reset our environment.
It seems like the General Scripts hotkey was overriding the Slaves Hotkey.
Ah, yes, that would make sense. The hotkeys in the main menus are defined at the main window level, so they will always take precedence over shortcuts for panels within the main window.
Glad you figured it out!
