Houdini Octane Error: Caught exception:

Hi,
So i’ve got this error on one of my computers when i submit a job to deadline and i cannot find a solution.

Error: Caught exception: [' File "C:/PROGRA~1/Side Effects Software/Houdini 17.0.459/houdini/python2.7libs\\hou.py", line 49991, in render\n return _hou.RopNode_render(*args, **kwargs)\n', 'NotAvailable: Not available in this context.\n']

I have an other computer in the array and everything works fine for him i’ve check the installs of houdini/octane/deadline and reinstalled everything nothing works…

If you have any idea it would be awesome.

Did you figure this out in the end? Having the same issue intermittently pop up and octane support have no idea what it means.

I hope you’re not stuck with this issue anymore.
Ideed we fixed this, the dumbest fix ever… might not work for you but try it anyway ahaha.

We launched DeadLine as admin.

Support think it’s to do with the mplay toggles in the output tab on the ROP not getting respected correctly, but i’m not sure. The run as admin thing didn’t work in our case Thanks for answering though.

I am having that same error right now, only with deadline, not with hrender ran locally.

Houdini 18.0.566, latest octane render 2020.1.5, and latest deadline version.

We narrowed our issue down to the ‘out of core’ options causing a problem. But this was a long time and many versions ago now.

We found that having OOC toggled in the plugin prefs within houdini caused a crash in deadline, that wasn’t nessecarily triggered in hython on it’s own. We don’t know why.

The work around for our case was to use a pre render script to toggle it on or off.

I think it was. maybe worth a try
