- Start 3ds Max
- Select Customize menu -> Customize User Interface…
- Create a toolbar or menu, and add Save Meshes to it. Note: Save Meshes is in the Thinkbox Category.
i noticed btw that there is a ‘thinkbox software’ and ‘thinkbox’ list in the menu. i would suggest that we pick one and are consistent across the company…

I prefer “Thinkbox”, because that’s the name we already use for our Program Files and Start menu folders.
What’s in “Thinkbox Software”?
Edit: I see it’s Deadline 5.0. Anyone have a preference?
The one with Deadline contains a FORBIDDEN file that nobody should be touching. It is actually named like that and is called by the SMTD launcher (which is in the “Deadline” category after syncing from the Repository. So I was happy to see XMesh go to a different category where people won’t see that SMTD macro. I vote for leaving both. If that is not an option, move XMesher to “Thinkbox Software” to avoid problems with Deadline installations that already expect the SMTD code to be there.
gotcha. well, if we need something that is verboten, why dont we call it something appropriate? so software you touch is in ‘thinkbox’ and things you dont is called ‘thinkbox protected’ or ‘thinkbox control’ or somesuch?

“Thinkbox Internal” would be a good one. The answer to your question is “historical reasons”. The category used to be called “Frantic Software” back then, then it was renamed to “Prime Focus Software”, now it is “Thinkbox Software”. We (or more precisely, I) made the wrong decision years ago and it has been sticking around since then. We just have to decide to fix it in, say, Deadline 5.1 or something
