Would be nice to have a way to differentiate the 7 and 6 launchers. We might be running them side by side for a little while, and they are identical icons

When you hover over the icon, they should display “DeadlineLauncher” or “DeadlineLauncher7” respectively and “DeadlineLauncher8” in the future…
Thanks Mike, i didn’t notice that before.
Its causing some confusion for our artists. They just see 2 identical launchers, or sometimes just one (if the other one is not running for some reason). As a force of habit, they don’t doublecheck which version they need, just right click & open the monitor. Since our d7 is still in testing phases, this is causing some issues where they don’t even realize they are looking at the wrong version of deadline, report issues to IT etc (they should not be using d7, but sometimes open it by accident)… I know its somewhat of a ‘user error’, but more distinct differences in the launcher would probably avoid this issue altogether.

RC3 was released late today and actually includes a couple of tweaks which may help a little here for you in the short term?
These changed don’t really make much of a difference to be honest, since there is no clear visible clue just looking at your taskbar.
We will live with it till we switch though, the support people seem to have learned how to react to the “deadline is empty” or “my job isnt appearing” bugreports.
Understood. I have made a note to see if we can do something more about this in the future.
I’ve tried to change the launcher executable’s icon via visual studio, and it looks like it works in the explorer:
but not on the windows taskbar. Is that image stored somewhere else? I’d do this mini hack if its possible somehow…
