I don’t think it works if there is a blank password. I have to re-enter the credentials in the windows services snap-in to get this to work.
What’s an easy way to install the service if it was already installed without it? Conversely how can install deadline with the service but have it be disabled by default?
We’ll investigate this. What happens exactly when you try to set it up this way? Is the service not set up at all, or are settings just set incorrectly?
You can use Deadline Command to install/uninstall the Launcher service. Just search for “InstallLauncherService” here to find the usage for the service-related commands: software.primefocusworld.com/sof … ommand.php
There currently is no option to install the service but disable it by default.
The password just needs to be re-entered. It does install.
deadline command can install/uninstall or just start/stop/disable the service? I’m just trying to come up with the easiest install settings. We won’t use it as a service yet. But I don’t want to have to run it again. And I don’t want to have to do something onerous to disable it after the install.
Oh, so is it the installer that doesn’t allow you to enter a blank password? You need to enter some dummy password and then clear it manually after? Sorry, we haven’t actually checked this ourselves yet, I just want to make sure we’re looking for the correct problem.
It supports start/stop and install/uninstall. Nothing for disabled (yet).
correct. I think it doesn’t like the blank password. although I haven’t tried another account with a password.
cool. and cool. although if the launcher is running as user I won’t be able to run that operation successfully unless they are local admin. I’ll figure it out.
