I was seeing this in Max 9, but that’s when the NSS crazy kept happening. Now in 2009 I can see the behaviour more clearly.
I have 2 boxes as culling objects in a NSS.
As long as they don’t intersect each other, everything is as expected. But if they intersect, the particles cull to the intersection, like AND, not OR. If they have coplanar faces (just align the min of one to the max of the other) then they SOMETIMES cull everything.
I’m attaching a 2009 file, the .prt doesn’t matter, you can use anything that’s near to the origin.
Anyway, the coplanar stuff is messing up my “render lighting to the emission channel, then use clipping object to set up compositing passes” experiments (which so far have been mostly lovely).
