job complete popup

We have an artist who noticed that job completion popups stopped working for her a while back. Is there any way we can troubleshoot why? Her launcher is running just fine.

When using the ‘SendPopupMessage’ command to try to repro this, we get the following message:

2014-11-12 11:33:48: got reply: Sent “” command. Result: “A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 172.18.8.23:17060”

Could this be a firewall issue? (although, i think for the job completion messages, no socket communication is being done…)

It could be a firewall. The slave that finishes the render sends a command to the launcher running on the artist’s machine, and that uses a socket. Are you able to use any remote control features with this artist’s machine? For example, start/stop the slave?

You could also check if the launcher port number in the system’s deadline.ini file (%PROGRAMDATA%\Thinkbox\Deadline6\deadline.ini) has been changed on this specific machine. The default would be 17060.
