job does not submit

Hi,

I have deadline up but when I go to submit and try submitting a maya job nothing appears in the deadline monitor. It does not look like the job actually submitted.

When I click submit nothing happens. The submission window just stays up but no dialog box to say it has submitted the job.

Not sure what the issue is.

Maybe a Mongo thing?

Cheers,

Richard

Shot in the dark, but check your terminal (or Maya script editor if you don’t run it from a terminal) for an error.

-Nathan

the script was submitted from within the deadline monitor.

I can’t see any info that shows me that it got submitted.

Hmm, I can’t seem to reproduce this. I was able to submit from the Monitor just fine. Something is going wrong though, because you would normally get a popup message telling you the submission was successful.

Can you send us the monitor log after a failed submission attempt? You can find the logs by selecting Help -> Explore Log Folder in the Monitor.

Will have a look and post findings.

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Ryan,

I just looked at the logs and nothing appears to indicate any failed attempt.

Just when I press submit nothing happens. No pop up of any kind.

Hi,

I downloaded the latest build (4) hoping it would solve this problem but still I am unable to submit a job.

It just does not give me anything. The Submit UI just stays up but no dialog box telling me any errors or that the job was submitted.

This is a bit annoying as I have been unable to test it.

Thanks,

Richard

Can you download the attached zip file, unzip it, and then open up a command prompt and run the following:

deadlinecommand.exe "path\to\maya_job_info.job" "path\to\maya_plugin_info.job"

Then send us the output from the command. We’ll take a look to see if there is any useful info.

If this doesn’t help us debug the problem, would you be willing to allow us to remote into a machine so we can poke around?
maya_job_info.zip (933 Bytes)

Hi Ryan,

That returned a successful result.
C:\Program Files\Thinkbox\Deadline6\bin>deadlinecommand.exe Z:\maya_job_info\may
a_job_info.job Z:\maya_job_info\maya_plugin_info.job
Deadline Command 6.0 [v6.0.0.48930 R]

Submitting to Repository: Z:\DeadlineRepository6

Submission Contains the Following:

 1. Auxiliary File #1 (“Z:\maya_job_info\maya_plugin_info.job”)

Result=Success
JobID=509408904c7fc219f8c7de86
Hi Richard,

Interesting. Did the job show up in the Monitor too?

Maybe there is a certain set of options in the Maya submitter that causes it to fail to submit. Can you take a screen shot of all the tab pages in your Maya submitter? We’ll use those to set up the same options here and try to reproduce.

Thanks!

Hi Ryan,

Yes the job did show up in the monitor.

Will post a screenshot of the submit screen.

Happy to do a screenshare though if it would be quicker to solve.

Many thanks,

Richard

Attached is the submitter screenshots

Best,

Richard

Thanks! I can reproduce the problem now. Now just need to figure out what setting(s) are the problem!

Cool.

Thanks,

Richard

Found the bug. The problem only happens when MentalRay is the selected renderer.

This will be fixed in beta 5, but here is the updated script in case you want to use it now. Just unzip to \your\repository\scripts\Submission, then restart your Monitor to load the new script.

Cheers,

Brilliant! Thanks so much Ryan.

Can get testing now.

Best,

Richard
