We are submitting our jobs externally by calling the deadlineCommand and supplying our generated job files along with the scene file (3ds Max in this case). However, the job gets submitted and all seems fine, except, the job just won’t start processing. I have to select it in the Monitor, suspend it and then resume it in order for Deadline to start rendering the job.
There are no errors, nothing seems to be worng. The job just needs this manual poke to get done.
I’ll investigate that, but I’d say 99% no. (I didn’t set it up myself).
The only “strange” thing about the setup is that the repo is on a remote PC that is connected via a VPN to the network here where the render slave is. Everything else works, even the rendering then works fine without errors, but the job just won’t start automatically. It just sits there. The render slaves are idle and nothing is happening until I suspend/resume the job.
Double check the version of Deadline on the machine that you’re submitting from. If it’s different than the farm you’re submitting to, that could explain the problem, as there were a few breaking changes along the way with how job settings were stored in the database. When you suspend and resume the job from the Monitor on the main farm, that’s probably saving the job properties properly so that it can be picked up.
