I’m curious if there has been any discussion about having this functionality in Deadline?
It’s already in the job details panel under the Statistics section. We had added it back to the top of the task list as well, but it looks like that was lost when we refactored how the data was populated in the lists. We’ll look at getting that back in there.
Oh cool, I’ll check it out. How are you guys generating the estimates? Is it purely based off of completed frames?
Yeah, we base it on completed frame times, and the number of tasks that are currently being rendered.
Are you using any info from the slaves? Like the Normalized Render Time Multiplier? I did some tests locally and set those attributes, but I wasn’t really sure where they came into play.
No, we’re not. I don’t think we’d want to use normalized times for the estimate anyways because we want a “real time” estimate.
The normalized times are just meant to be used when comparing render times in the task list. It helps you determine if you’re getting the expected render times or not.
Hmm, I see. That’s always been the bane of job estimates, non-homogeneous render farms.
