Known issue: automatic Particle Partitioning requires Deadline

Krakatoa can generate particle partitions, allowing the renderer to process more particles than 3ds Max can handle in a single pass.  This feature can be found in the Krakatoa rendering interface, in the Particle Partitioning dropdown.

Currently, automatic partitioning requires Deadline render farm manager.  To create particle files, click Submit All Partitions To Deadline.  This option is disabled on installations without Deadline.

Tip: Deadline 2.5 offers free network rendering for up to 2 slaves.  The current build is available here: http://software.franticfilms.com/index.aspx?page=deadline/downloads

To clarify, partitions CAN be created manually.  Deadline provides a machanism for automatic partioning and queuing up multiple jobs.

To manually create a partition, set Krakatoa to Save Particles to File Sequence.  For each iteration, adjust your random number seeds in PFlow, rename your Krakatoa particle file and then click Quick Render.
