Krakatoa 0.9.8 SP 1 - GUI Update and Bug Fixes

This update contains only the Krakatoa Scripted GUI (KrakatoaGUI.ms file). Over the last week, we have identified and fixed several problems and crashes related to the GUI.

We decided to post this update as a form of "service pack" until the Beta build 0.9.9 becomes available.

To install, simply unzip the file and replace the KrakatoaGUI.ms file in the directories

C:\Program Files\Frantic Films\Krakatoa\3dsMax8

C:\Program Files\Frantic Films\Krakatoa\3dsMax9\Win32

or

C:\Program Files\Frantic Films\Krakatoa\3dsMax9\x64

depending on which version of Max you are using.

(All 3 folders use the same version of the scripted GUI).

 

The list of fixes this update addresses will be posted separately.

GENERAL

  • The Rollout Floater will store its position in both the renderer and the INI file. If the renderer has just been assigned, the last known position from the INI file will be used. If the INI file is not initialized yet or has been deleted, the default position (center of desktop) will be used. All 3 methods are dual monitor safe - if necessary, the GUI will be adjusted to avoid disappearing outside of the current desktop.
  • Increased the PFlow system limit from 10 to 100 million particles. The auto-increasing will now be performed when the GUI is opened, not when a file is loaded.

HISTORY ROLLOUT

  • Implemented History/Presets lists caching, resulting in much faster GUI start up.
  • New "Align" button aligns left and right list with an offset of 1. Useful in conjunction with the Scroll Lock checkbutton.

MAIN CONTROLS ROLLOUT

  • Right-click menu for the QUICK RENDER / SAVE PARTICLES button with the following items
    • Render Scene Dialog toggle
    • Save Render Output (Render Scene Particles mode only)
    • Explore Render Path (Render Scene Particles mode only)
    • Single Frame time mode
    • Active Segment time mode
    • Custom Range time mode
    • Custom Frames time mode

MATTE OBJECTS ROLLOUT

  • Added a "wait" dialog during Matte Objects saving which reports how many frames of how many objects are being saved.
  • Added filters to only report valid geometry objects when saving matte objects files
  • Added Debug prints with timing for matte objects saving.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed uninitialized Preferences bug - default settings will be BEGINNER.
  • Fixed a crash when incrementing Partition Seeds - some operators were returned as undefined but were not handled.
  • Fixed a severe bug which would break scripted controllers on Scene Loading
  • Fixed a severe crash when pressing "Manually Increment Partition and Seeds" button with no save file name specified. Now, a warning message box will appear prompting the user to enter a save name first.
  • Fixed the same crash when pressing "Generate Partitions Locally..." with no save file name specified.
