Please download and test Krakatoa 1.4.8.36778 (1.5 Beta 8).
Note that we had to make a major change to the GeoVolume system - instead of adding a modifier that defines particles at render time, you will now create a PRT Volume object that points at the geometry object to fill with particles. As result, the particles can be seen in the viewports and modified with KCMs interactively without the need to save intermediate PRT files to disk. The GeoVolume modifier has been completely removed, so older scenes might need some manual tweaking to work again. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope you see why we had to do that.
We have reenabled the VFB Extensions for Max 2009 and 2010 with all new controls exposed.
We also made some changes to the Global Overrides due to popular demand and also improved the navigation from and to the Main Controls rollout much simpler, with all major switches found in other rollouts neatly exposed at the bottom of it. Right-clicking these buttons will bring you to the relevant rollouts, and pressing Back To Main Controls on top of the rollout will focus back on the main area.
The only major missing feature right now is APME support for Voxel rendering which we hope to add in the coming weeks.
The installer now takes care of TBB.DLL and Helium automatically. There are no manual steps involved anymore. If you had Helium added manually before, make sure you remove the old plugin entry to avoid duplicated plugin errors on startup.
Please report problems ASAP as time until Siggraph is short!
As usual, the changes to all builds can be found under

Have fun!
KNOWN BUGS AND LIMITATIONS:
*Particle Mode lighting seems broken - only the last active light gets rendered. We are looking to fix this ASAP.
*APME is still not supported in Voxel mode.
*Additive Voxel Rendering was broken in the process of adding custom shading channels. This should be fixed for Beta 9.
*In the VFB Extension Controls, the Create New Channel Override Set menu option when clicking on the Global Overrides button does nothing. This has been fixed for Beta 9.
*When copying a KCM containing a BLOP from one object to another, the Input nodes in the BLOP would lose their tracks and cause errors to be printed in the Listener. This has been fixed for Beta 9.
