Krakatoa 1.5.1.37814 Posted - Sept 18, 2009

Please download and test Krakatoa 1.5.1.37814. Please note that the plugin build is 1.5.0.37809, but this is more or less intentional (some scripts were updated after the plugin was compiled).

We decided to roll all changes we had made to 1.5.2 down into 1.5.1, so you are getting Selection Channel support and Curve Control node in MagmaFlow, multi-particle Random and Grid distribution in PRT Volume voxels, a new prototype Schematic Flow for controlling and analyzing the rendering process and all the bug fixes that were in 1.5.1 already.

For a full list of the changes, bug fixes and additional features, please read
software.primefocusworld.com/sof … _notes.php

The documentation will be getting updates to cover the new features in the coming days.

KNOWN BUGS AND LIMITATIONS
*The Volume Select Modifier support is currently broken - the selection does not respect the actual location of the gizmo. Note that you can simulate Volume Select using an Atmospheric Gizmo and a KCM using the position and radius. We even ship two Gizmo-related BlackOps that could be used instead.
*Also, just like in all previous versions, selecting a mesh as the Volume Select Gizmo on a PRT Loader will crash 3ds Max.

Krakatoa Schematic Flow :open_mouth:

It is the direct result of this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3186

For now, it just shows you the data flow inside the renderer and does not let you rewire anything, but it already tells you some things about what will happen to the particles as they pass through various stages, and right-clik menus provide an alternative way to tweak settings. Quite Work In Progress, but we need feedback to see where we can go with it.

At first glance of the initial image on the Help page, it reminded of a recent script/plugin I saw the other day:

scriptspot.com/3ds-max/news/ … rflow-beta

Which I thought was quite an interesting, wonderfully visual approach to the render workflow.

So the next question how do I activate it? Doesn’t seem readily apparent, or are you just teasing

OOOPS!

Looks like Darcy forgot to include the file in the installer.
I will jump to the office tomorrow and post the MS file so you can try it out.
Sorry for the tease… my mistake.

No worries, I just opened max9 through 2010 trying to find it, I even went as far as to jump into the scripts directory. Thought I was loosing it

BTW the PRT Volume Random in Cube  :ugeek: no more moire patterns.

I posted the script in the initial message of this thread.
Copy it into the \Krakatoa\Scripts folder and run it manually, then customize a toolbar.

Thanks for posting that up

The schematic flow is really slick! The visual representation is a welcome sight. It is nice to see your enabled states all in one place since the interface has quite a few rollouts with synchronous settings. Quick toggles are a snap
Can you add a render button node?
