Krakatoa Beta Build 1.0.101.30337 This build will NOT work with your existing 1.0.x license. Please send a request for an updated 1.1. license. You can run the beta in evaluation mode with watermark until then. A list of new features, changes and bug fixes will be posted shortly.
Changes from Build 1.0.100.30288 to 1.0.101.30337
KRAKATOA GUI
- The Cache Indicator now shows YELLOW if a channel that is requested is not currently cached. This signifies that the cache will NOT be used but will be rebuilt next time you hit Render.
- The Particle COUNT in the Cache is now shown together with the Memory MB in the RC menu of the Cache buttons AND in the Channels To Save rollout.
- Cached Channels are shown with a + sign in front of their name, - if not cached.
PARTICLE LOADER
- Removed the Load Last N option from the list - not gonna happen for 1.1, pushed for 1.2.
- Added options to actually TOGGLE the View and Rend status in the File Sequence Manager (Edit...)
- Fixed broken UPDATE VIEW CACHE button.
- Fixed display of Maps using UV channels > 1 - Gradient Ramp on Channel 2 or 42 or 99 should display correctly in the viewports now.
- Turning deformation modifiers OFF IN VIEWPORT or OFF IN RENDERER is now supported by the PRT Loader.
NEW PARTICLE FLOW OPERATORS
- File Update operator in different Event missing channel error has been fixed.
- Loading sequence with no IDs crash has NOT been fixed YET (it appeared to be fixed on the developer's machine but did not pass the test on other machines. We decided to upload the build and fix this next week). In short, don't load PRT files with NO ID CHANNEL!
OTHER BUG FIXES
- A bug was discovered by a user of a localized (German) version of 3ds Max - several properties like Shadow Map Size and f-stop were not read correctly because they were implemented using ParamBlock1 in early days of Max and would always return localized SubAnim names instead of the English ones. This has been fixed and should solve similar problems in other localized versions of 3ds Max (French, Japanese etc.)
KNOW BUGS
- As mentioned in the release notes, loading a PRT file with no ID channel in the new Krakatoa File Birth PFlow Operator still causes a crash.
- Generating Attenuation Maps, esp. for Omni Lights is still slower than in 1.0.1. An updated sorting algorithm is scheduled to replace the current sorting methods in the next build.
NEW BUGS!
- The fix for the German localized version of 3ds Max has introduced a regression in handling of lights without Shadow Maps. Having Raytraced shadows or non-Standard lights like Mental Ray Omni etc. will cause a crash as Krakatoa incorrectly assumes the light has a Shadow Map with localized property name and attempts to access it in an alternative way, failing in the process instead of assuming a default map size. This will be fixed ASAP early next week.
