Krakatoa License Management

hi

we are trying to figure out how exactly licenses are being taken and assigned during krakatoa partitions…

at first we were running free version, where i could easily create 2 slaves, have 10 tasks each running, 20 partitions in total,

now we got some temporary deadline licenses, and we are limited by our krakatoa licenses
heres a log of our 10krakatoa licenses being used up by 5 machines

so one node, cell210pc for example, is taking up 3 licenses,

is this how it works? one krakatoa render license per task?

i was under the impression that it was one krakatoa license per machine that was being used…

please let us know the details so we can better adjust to our current limitation

thank you!

Krakatoa workstation uses 1 license per machine, but Krakatoa render nodes use one license per instance of 3ds Max.

oh bummer
i thought also per machine

its wierd that we were able to run 20 partitions simultaenously on the free deadline version on one computer (with 2 slaves),
but now were limited to only 10 partitions together on all nodes with 10 full render licenses

maybe we should install 10 repositories of the free version! then we could partition 100 partitions at the same time

or would it make a difference to release the license before submitting to deadline? just trying to understand why we could do 20 partitions at the same time and that wasnt a problem

we can essentially get less done now even though we have more computers

Ian, please check your personal email and get back to me ASAP.

This doesn’t have anything to do with Deadline, but instead with Krakatoa licensing.
