Krakatoa Maya - Dec. 14, 2012

Attached is a build of Krakatoa MY. It is built for 64 bit Maya 2011, 2012, 2013. It includes builds for both Windows and Linux.

Release notes:

  • Added particle partitioning system.
    [list]
[*]Allows users to save out Maya particle systems in various partitions. Each partition will be the same dynamics system, however the initial seeding parameter will be slightly changed to provide many more particles that the initial system provided.

  • Supports Initial State particle systems without dynamic emission seeding by optionally jittering the Position and/or the Velocity of newly born particles.

  • Allows users to save out scene particles to PRT files, specifying which channels to save out and which to ignore.

    [
]Fixed “reinstalling” bug in the installer.[/:m]
    [
]Fixed a bug that was causing a crash when users switched from saving in “Maya Binary” to “Maya ASCII” scene formats.[/:m]
    [
    ]Improved the icons.[/:m]
    [
]Fixed a bug that was causing material that require normals to not work correctly for Maya’s particle systems. Now materials will use the particle channel “normalDirPP” if it exists.[/:m]
    [
]Fixed a bug that was not allowing users to select a custom camera to render the scene (by right clicking the render window and selecting a custom camera).[/:m]
    [
]Added a rollout in the renderer dialog to assist in computing the amount of memory needed for the render.[/:m]
    [
]Removed random warnings given to the user about unsupported light features. These warnings were annoying.[/:m]
    [
]Fixed bugs in the deep image holdout code (dtex importing).[/:m]
    [
]Fixed a bug that was causing orthographic cameras to render incorrectly.[/:m]
    [
]Fixed bugs with “Primary” and “Secondary” visibility of matte geometry.[/:m]
    [
]Fixed bugs with the “Visibility” flags of lights, camera, and particle systems.[/:m]
    [
]Added support for the “Smooth Mesh” options for polygon meshes (subdivisions).[/:m]
    [
]The particle color of selected PRT Loaders and PRT Fractals will not change to green anymore. This is to allow the user to see and tweak the colors of the selected object.[/:m]
    [
]Changed some default parameters in the PRT Volume, and added some new convenience options, including

  • Rename PRT Volume according to Source Mesh name

  • Move and rotate the PRT Volume to the position and orientation of the Source Mesh.

  • Toggle the Bounding Box display of the Source Mesh

  • Adjust the Viewport Spacing value according to the largest dimension of the Source Mesh’s Bounding Box. This is performed automatically when picking a mesh, and by pressing the manual option’s button. This produces 50 segments along the longest BBox dimension. In other words, a Box with size of 50x50x50 will produce a Viewport Spacing of 1.0, and a grid of 50x50x50 particles by default. If the same Box had the size of 5x5x5 the Viewport Spacing will be 5/50.0=0.1, so the total viewport count will be the same regardless of the size difference. This is to avoid high memory usage when picking very large objects.

    [
]Added support for the “cubic decay” option in Maya’s lights.[/*:m][/list:u]

Please provide feedback and report bugs on the forums!

PLEASE NOTE: If this is the first time installing the plugin, you will still need to manually load the plugin using Maya’s “Plugin Manager”.
