Hi
This is not necessarily a bug but we were wondering if we could control the fact that in the newer builds Krakatoa render elements create an extra folder per element or am I missing something ?!
I think that is default 3ds Max Render Element behavior. The path for a render element is initially set by adding a sub-directory with the element’s to the current rendering path. This seems to happen automatically, and is not a custom part of Krakatoa render elements.
Let me know if this is inconsistent with your experiences using Default Scanline render elements.
Actually I just tested it in Scanline and it does NOT add the folder name, just uses the render output path and sets the file name of the render element image to the render output file name with suffix taken from the element name.
We must be doing something special to add the folder.
It might be because that is the way Deadline Submitter and everybody at Prime Focus does it, but if we want to be consistent with the Max way, the sub-folder should either be optional or not created at all.
Correction.
Krakatoa seems to create Render Elements just like Scanline and VRay.
It is Deadline that makes sub-folders by default. It has an option to rename Render Elements to ensure they go wherever the Render Output goes.
In SMTD, in the Render tab, under 3ds Max Pathing Options, the “Update Render Elements’ Paths” option will update the Render Elements to the current output path and make the sub-folders. If you uncheck it, the Render Elements will not be touched.
