Krakatoa Render with comp

Just wanted to share this. It is a shot from a spec piece we are working on here at Somersault. I used krakatoa to simulate the ice steam. Its still a work in progess but yeah enjoy. Other shots will follow. This shot only had around 2 million particles. The next shot i am currently working on is upwards of 10 million. But then again its a close up.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing!

I’m glad Krakatoa is working well for you. Don’t hesitate to let us know if

any problems or workflow hassles pop up.

The only thing i am kind of frustrated with is the not being able to stop a particle count up on render. so for example if i jump to frame 200 and do a quick render and then realize something isnt right. I cant stop the count up. And at 10million particles its a nice wait for the count up just to cancel it and change something to wait again. I hope this makes sense. but other than that its a great app and i am still learning the ins and outs.

I talked to Oleg about how Krakatoa might be able to get the progress of the particle system, and handle cancel messages during that part. It turned out there’s no way to do that in the current version of max, hopefully a future version will allow for it.

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply. Oh well. I am just double checking everything before hitting render and making really sure everything is set.
