Well, I could get Krakatoa to run under Vista 64… anyhow only the 32bit version.
First Problem: On installation the plugin.ini will not get changed. I think this can only be done by running the installer as admin.
3dsmax 9 64bit: I get a script error whenever starting 3dsmax.

I would love to know what the script error says when you try to run 64 bit in Vista!
Runtime error: error setting current Directory: “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\scripts”
Well strange that it’s not “Autodesk\3dsmax 9\scripts”
else you need admin rights to write in such directory. On installing the software I need to do this.
Tested that on 2 machines…

This looks very wrong.
Krakatoa MUST have been installed under
c:\program files\frantic films\krakatoa
Looking at the error, it looks like the file MaxKrakatoa.dlr is found in a sub-folder of 3ds Max instead. It is supposed to resolve the krakatoa home variable by going up two directories, then append \scripts to the result and look for the script files there.
So it looks like Max is finding MaxKrakatoa.dlr somewhere like
c:\program files\autodesk\3dsmax 9\krakatoa<br>
then goes up two folders and ends up at
c:\program files\autodesk<br>
If you did NOT install Krakatoa into a sub-directory of 3ds Max, then it must be some bug on our side, Vista or Max itself.
If you DID install MaxKrakatoa.dlr inside 3ds Max directory structure manually, then you have to make sure the DLR is TWO folders deeper than the 3ds Max folder and all other folders are found at that root two folders higher.
Please let us know where your MaxKrakatoa.dlr file is really located…
not so bad…
It seems like the installer couldn’t change the plugin.ini. Under vista it’s a little difficult. You need to change the plugin.ini under User settings to do this (works simple easier). Took me quite long to find out where the plugins need to be…
Next the frantic folder is under: program files (x86) …
I changed the path and it works now, except the lmflex licence returns an error in 3dsmax 9 64bit, but works in the 32bit version.
Could be because of the path?
