Is there interest in us supporting the LASzip format? ( rapidlasso: laszip.org/)
It hasn’t been requested yet as far as i can remember. Most feedback has focused on the scanner formats ie. Leica’s ipl, Faro’s .fls, and .zfs from Z+F. We are working hard to support these formats to reduce the amount of format churn users need to go through.
LAZzip is mostly for Airal LIDAR data along with any LAS (v 1.2 1.3)
You should have a look at E57 as it is now a standard transfer format between all scanner manufacuters, It will also keep the imagery from the scanner. It is an open format meaning the vast majority of scanner uses will be able to use this software
We do support e57, and are working add further support so we can make use of all the things that might be stuffed into it if present. If there is something you find missing or would like us to add let us know!
