Just a note that “Transforming Vertices” means nothing, technically speaking.
In the 3ds Max 1.0, the Render Dialog got this hard-coded string “Transforming Vertices” which used to be the first operation performed by the Scanline Renderer.
It is still in there, so when a renderer FAILS to even start rendering, the first message shown in the dialog BEFORE the renderer updates the string still says “Transforming Vertices”, but it isn’t really what is being done internally.
No idea what is causing it to hang though…
jes i didnt think kraka was doing anything with vertices…
i am pretty sure its a pflow bug, i will search through forum to find the latest post i had on this, i think paul or darcy pointed out the problem last time, had to do with pflow and fume or something!
a working colleague has experienced the same problem when having pflow fume fx birth operator and omni lights in scene
it hangs at @transforming vertices@ window when trying to render
this was the description darcy had back then
“There was a bug evaluating the lights in the scene. If you replace or delete Light01 (its a LightStandIn), your scene will continue to render. This will be fixed in the next build of Krakatoa.”
Using the scene from the thread you linked to does not cause any problems for me. Whenever Krakatoa hangs at “Transforming Vertices” that means it dies somewhere before Krakatoa was able to display its own prompt. Can you send me a sample scene that does hang?
