launcher crash

As i am going through the whole farm updating it to the release version, i 've found that the launcher was crashed on some machines, with this in the event viewer:

Thanks for reporting this. Looks like the crash occurred while the launcher was trying to shutdown. We’ll fix this in 6.1 so that it doesn’t happen anymore.

I just updated from 6-0-51527 to 6-1-52433 and i get the exact same error, also just on some machines. The worst is i can’t restart the laucher anymore, it constantly crashes.

Sounds like an issue is occurring during auto-upgrading. What happens if you reinstall the client on the problematic machines using the 6.1 client installer?

allready tried it, it still crashes.

Strange. Can you go to zip up the deadline log folder on one of these problematic machines and post it? On Windows, it should be here:

C:\ProgramData\Thinkbox\Deadline6\logs

We’ll take a look at the launcher logs to see if anything stands out.

What’s odd is that this log shows that the launcher version is 6.0, so the first question is if you updated your Repository to 6.1? If you didn’t, then it’s likely that some of your slaves downgraded themselves to 6.0, and then ran into some problems.

So if you haven’t done so already, please run the 6.1 repository installer against your 6.0 repository.

If your repository is now at 6.1, then run the 6.1 client installer on this node. If you get a warning that there are deadline applications running and are asked to kill them, please kill them (or just exit them manually). After the 6.1 client is installed, start the launcher from the start menu, and then if things go wrong again, please ZIP up the entire Deadline log folder on this machine and send it. If the latest logs still show the Deadline 6.0 launcher running, then something fishy is going on here…

Well that’s great, now reinstalling the client app solves the problem all the sudden, i guess you have to try it twice… i hate computers :slight_smile:

BTW, the Repository was already updated to 6.1.
