Launcher crashes repeatedly

The launcher task icon on my workstation will let me right click but not select any of the applications. I have to relaunch it several times a day to keep it working.

That’s interesting… I went to check my launcher and sure enough I currently have the same problem. No errors in my log though, so this should be fun to track down. It’s been logged as a bug.

I believe I’m seeing the same problem. I just upgraded Deadline 6 from beta 6 to beta 7, and now when I right-click the launcher, the menu comes up but I can’t select anything. The strange thing is that it functions normally for about a second right when the launcher starts, and then it seems as if the launcher icon is replaced by a new one (sometimes I can see two icons side by side for a fraction of a second followed by the menu I have open closing), and then when I re-open the menu, I can’t select anything. I watched ProcessExplorer while this happened, and I just see one deadlinelauncher.exe process with a consistent PID throughout the whole thing.

I’m running Windows 7 64-bit, and I’m seeing this problem on both of the machines I have deadline client installed on. Both were working fine before I upgraded from beta 6 to beta 7.

Hopefully that helps…

In my case the deadline launcher icon doesn’t appear anymore in the taskbar notification area.

There were two regressions here. The first being the menu becoming unresponsive and the second that the launcher would crash again if it can’t connect to mongo. Both issues have been fixed internally and will be included in the beta 8 release.

Cheers,

I’m seeing a weird development. Apparently I don’t have a deadlinelauncher.exe anymore after I restarted. Maybe that’s the problem.

That’s weird. If that was the case before, it wouldn’t have been showing the launcher icon in the first place.

Reinstalling the client should get your missing file back, but the actual right-click problem will be fixed in beta 8.
