launcher/monitor do not even load

Hi all,

I just installed Deadline 6 and when I try and launch the monitor nothing happens. Nothing appears to load. I do not get any error messages.

This is using the Beta 2 build.

I have tried restarting my machine but did not help.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Can you send us the Monitor log? If you don’t know where the Deadline logs are, can you let me know which OS you’re using?

Also, can you describe your installation process? For example, did the Deadline 6 repository and database installation go smoothly? Is the Deadline 6 client pointing to your Deadline 6 repository? The more information, the better!

Cheers,

Hi Ryan,

It is a windows 7 installation.

The initial install of the repository and mango did not go smoothly. On first install it installed mango but then prompted it to connect to the mango database and it was telling me that it could not connect. It was the first time i was installing it so not sure what the problem was. I pressed back a few times in the installation and went forward again and it ran through ok.

I then installed the client pointing it to the repository.

Let me know where the logs are and will send them through.

Many thanks,

Richard

I had this too on a server 2008 repository install.

You can find the logs here:
%programdata%\Thinkbox\Deadline6\logs

Hopefully they contain some useful info!

Well i tried installing the new beta (beta3) and it launches ok.

I still got errors though during the install process (connecting to mongo database) but managed to just press back a few times and try again and it completed.

See attached screenshot.

I am going to install deadline now on my render node here and see if a job runs ok.

Cheers,

Richard

Currently, we wait up to 10 seconds for mongo to start listening on its port before displaying the MongoDB database settings page in your screen shot. I’m guessing that mongo still isn’t listening at this point, which explains the error. Do you remember if the progress screen that was shown while mongo was being installed was stuck on the “Waiting for MongoDB service to start listening” part for about 10 seconds?

Hmm not sure. Possibly.
