We upgraded to the latest beta (8.0.0.40), and all the render nodes came up as this version after the upgrade of the repository. The thing now is that they all show up as “Expired / Invalid” in the License column.
Our farm is set up as usage based only and they were working fine before the upgrade. We have 80% of our credits left so that’s not the reason it fails.
I’ve also checked the ini files and it seems nothing there was changed by the upgrade either.
Are the credits linked to a particular version of Deadline or do they always work with the latest version available?
When you upgraded, did you just upgrade the repository and then auto-upgrade the render nodes? If so, try running the client installer on your render nodes again to see if that fixes the problem.
Thanks!
Ryan
Yes, that’s what we did since that’s the easiest I tried one of the nodes now, uninstalled completely and then used the client installer. It still says expired/invalid in the license tab unfortunately.
Thanks for trying that. I’ll pass this on to the devs so they can take a look.
Starting in beta 2 we’ve moved the UBL credentials out of the ini file and into the repository. There are two things you need to do to address this:
- Install the client manually (as already mentioned) on all render nodes.
- Set your UBL credentials in the Monitor under Configure Repository Options -> Usage Based Licensing
Hope that helps!

Thanks, that worked. We didn’t actually have to reinstall all the nodes - although we did a couple. The rest stated working when we updated the repository with the correct settings.
Cheers!
