License question

We have a bunch of frost meshes that we are xmeshing so that we are not constantly triggering re-meshes in the viewport.

Problem is, it takes something like 6 hours to mesh a sequence.
Is it possible to get this happening on one of the farm machines without tying up a license? At the moment the artist is sitting on his hands while he waits for the mesh to process and can’t continue work.

Is the only solution to buy another license?

You need a license of XMesh to process on the network.
You do NOT need a license of Frost if the network machine is running Max in network mode without a Max license and the scene was originally saved with a licensed version of Frost.
You can speed up the caching by running multiple XMesh instances (e.g. using Deadline) if you have multiple XMesh licenses.

Great, thanks for the info Bobo.

This stuff is not always simple to figure out. It’s sometimes hard to tell a license error from some other sort of error.
