The new light blue triangles in KrakatoaGUI.bmp are way too light for users of the old-school “light” color scheme. I applied a simple gamma correction to ~.25 and it’s easier to see. Just a little tip for other users who can’t see that well.
Actually I have been using the light scheme since Max 1 and I found the icons usable with it. Making them visible in the dark scheme was the trick, that’s why they ended up so bright. I had some darker versions but did not like them in either color scheme. Since it is a simple BMP, I will leave it to the users to deal with it. Of course, I could add a Preference control to tweak the gamma of the icons, but that sounds like an overkill
Ah, so you are saying that there’s nothing you tried where it looks good in both schemes? I see. Yeah, it’s a simple fix, once I found the right folder (and then figured out that they’re RGB bmp’s not RGBA).
I’m more concerned about the installer wiping the new bmp out each time we update. But it’s something we can handle, so long as you don’t add more buttons.

I bit the bullet and added interactive Hue, Saturation and Value offsets for the icons to the Preferences rollout.
Based off the light-blue icons, you can now get pretty much anything without editing the original BMP.
When it comes to icon colors, there is no pleasing everybody
