Mac Mini: Small Network Render Set Up

Hello, I’m looking into using Deadline to help me render animations in Luxology’s modo.
I’ve read the whitepaper on recommended equipment and I have a few follow-up questions. Or, more specifically, I am curious to know if anyone has a rock-solid solution they are using to network-render with Deadline in modo.
Currently, I only have my 2600k workstation, so I will need to invest in new equipment before trying Deadline.
I’ve seen several posts around the web about people networking recent quad-core Mac Minis to tackle renders in Cinema 4D. Would this be a good solution for Deadline and modo?
I prefer working in OSX; I can maintain those machines with greater ease and efficiency.
But I wonder, how much of a limitation would 16 gigs of ram per machine place on the power of the network-render?
If one machine in the network, say my 2600k workstation, has 32GB, will the bottleneck still be the cpus that only have access to 16GB?
I really appreciate any feedback you can offer.

When it comes to selecting hardware for modo renders, it really boils down to what works best for your modo scenes (you can essentially take Deadline out of the equation). If you’re rendering scenes that require a ton of RAM, then the more RAM the better. If modo has multithreading rendering capabilities, then you need to figure out the number of cores that give you maximum throughput for the types of scenes that you are rendering.

I know that’s probably not the specifics you were looking for, but hopefully knowing that you really don’t need to factor in Deadline will be of some help.

Cheers,
